Default Last Stage 1 question (hopefully)

Does this extra 40hp come at a price? Namely gas milage. I was wondering how many MPG was lost due to this kit?
After reading about the kit on Mopar's page, the part of the upgrade that looks most appealing is the better shifting with the tranny. Any opinions about this kit are welcome.

No loss in MPG. Some report a big improvement. Me, not noticeable, yet.

you don't gain 40hp, but it is a nice mod for the price, and a good base for future mods. you also get better gas milage with the stage 1,

ps. should read and post in the turbo section...

If you started with a turbo lite, I believe it might be more like 40 plus HP[?]

It actually adds about 60HP to the Turbo Lite, a full 1/3 increase in HP. Trust me, you notice that!

GT Autostick means HP increase from stock 220 to 235-240 after "S1" is in place. Unless you have "leadfootitis" [] [:0] [B)] your fuel economy should remain about the same. However, in some cases like mine (with S1, K&N air filter, turbo to air-box pipe, two silencers removed, and free-flow performance exhaust), you may notice an increase in your gas mileage (after 6000 miles) plus you then have a 250 HP turbo cruiser!!! It's noticable improvement. Gas milage did not go down, but tire wear went up...[8)] [}]

Heh, just stumbled back to this thread...

We aren't being wise guys, quite the contrary.

1. PTSleeper thought S1 added 40HP
2. You pointed out that it doesn't add 40HP
3. K9 said it might give you 40HP if you started out with the Lite (which is where PTSleeper most likely got his numbers)
4. I corrected K9 figures, pointing out the 60HP increase if starting out with the Lite

Funny thing is, none of us addressed PTSleeper's question of better shifting! So......yes, you will feel sharper, crisper shifting once installing S1 and doing the tranny quick learn (no NOT, under any circumstances, omit this step!!!) Otherwise, under normal driving, I have not experienced a decrease in fuel economy.

I agree, DO NOT OMIT THE QUICK LEARN! Better safe than sorry. If you have any questions regarding the quick learn, feel free to ask. There's also a Mopar tech support number on the Stage 1 install sheet that you can call as well. When in doubt, just ask.

Just make sure after you install S1 to drive carefully (no WOT) to your quick learn area. I did mine at a local highway on a Sunday afternoon (less traffic) so I could immediately start with the QL.
