Is there an easy way to tell if the previous owner of my 2003 GT installed stage 1?
Here's a picture of my engine bay: http://www.pbase.com/robinjoe/image/27341819 |

Ive got a better idea. Turn the key to pull the engine code (Accessories on position then back off 3x) and look for the engine code for Stage I (P0633). If you get this, then the stage I computer is in.

Here's an interesting fact. I was resetting my door lock configuration at work (all unlock insted of driver's, all) and I was fooling around on the DRBIII. It looks as those the Stage 1 is set as a Mexican Computer. I found it kinda funny. But anyway, yeah, do what Saki says. She's usually right. If you don't have the code, I would suggest fixing that problem.

Easy way to tell if you have Stage 1.
When the light turns green, step down on the gas. If you smell rubber, hear screaming tires, your neck is whipped back to the headrest, and people stare at you in disbelief ("Cruisers go that fast?"), then you know you have Stage 1. Don't forget the big smile on your face is a sure clue.

I assume the code should show in place of the mileage right? Do I start with the engine off? Do I end with "OFF", or with "Accessory"? Do I need to wait a while? I browsed the manual looking for instructions, but didn't find anything. Do you have a page number, or on-line instructions? Thanks everyone for the help!

Hey bigtommy83,
I take it your a Chrysler tech and wondered if you could check the system monitors on your SI w/DRBIII and see if any are removed or disabled. You should be able to run a system monitors test and or set them. Also could you verify that the tip sensor and after CAT O2 sensor function. Just curious, Thanks (Sorry to get off topic)[8] |

pretty sure the tip sensor and downstream are not monitored but are read, if that makes sense. you still get a reading from them but the are not factored into anything. i noticed that i could still read the downstream o2 when i looked at it because i wanted to know also. The same for the tip. I think the stage 1 just forgoes those.
