Mojito,

I would just install stage 1 and keep the factory PCM in the car. If you have a problem, switch it back to stock. All you need is a 10MM wrench. [}]
This may work. One question though, how often the mileage information stored in the PCM gets updated? And how quickly the stock PCM will have the actual mileage data after I put it back in?
Don't worry.
The milage is stored in another module in the Dash.
You can change them when ever you want and the only thing you will lose is the trip counter and the time in the factory radio. even the stations programed in it will stay (if you still have the factory radio).

Enjoy it and keep the factory one handy with a 10mm wrench for a quick factory downgrade.

Ian

My 2 cents...

Do you have to give DMC your VIN Number when ordering Stage-1?
Do you think they keep a data base?
If you answered yes, then they know you own Stage-1, guess they'd have to prove you installed it.

When DMC replaced my 1st GT, the dealer actually torque striped the wire harness connectors common to the PCM. I guess my dealer thought it was being tampered with, which was/is not the case. (have not bought Stage-1 yet) My dealer will sell Stage-1, but will not install because they state the warranty will be void. They wouldn't even install the BOV. So much for my dealer!

I do agree will all that was posted and have to add:
that most dealers LOVE to do warranty work because.. They will get paid by Mother DC, if you wasted your tranny and needed it to be rebuilt... and it was out of warranty... Would you really be bringing it to the dealer or would you bring it somewhere else!! I myself would bring it to a shop that did only trannys and not the dealer!!
$$$=Dealer
Most work you need done on your car is cheaper and can be better (good Shop) much then the dealerships!!!
I know New York is REAL far from where you are But, I know a few GREAT shops that I would trust my car over any dealer!!!
There is one in Conn. With a tech name john Gallagher.. He is THE BEST!

ouch, that hurts. for the record, dealers hate warranty work. dealers try to establish a relationship with you during warranty work so that you will keep your vehicle serviced with them. i'm sorry if you've run into some bad dealers, but not all are bad. there are also some very good independent shops, but they fall short on the equipment to properly diagnose a vehicle. also they are not attending an endless amount of dc academy classes to know everything about your vehicle. dealerships are not out to scalp you and take all of your hard earned cash, we have to pay for the training and equipment to fix your car. independent shops do keep me in business though, fixing jobs that they have given up on after spending lots of the customer's $....

I must admit I spit my beer out laughing so hard at your statement. You must be kidding! Under warranty work of any kind my dealer made me come back three times on both occasions, making me miss work for hours, doing nothing the first two days and finally doing the work on the third. This is the way to build relationships for the future? I think not! But I guess that in a way they ripped off Chrysler with bogus time spent on the car. I will admit you did say not all dealerships. Its to the point that my car will never see the dealership again unless its a very major recall.

My dealer continues to not have a clue what Stage 1 is. When I asked to check the DC parts listing(PC) they were startled to discover it. They IMMEDIATELY noticed the NO WARRANTY tag and said they would NOT install it. Of course, they were delighted to order it! I have spoken with 4 dealers in my area and they all indicated they would ahere to DC's no warranty position. This is same dealer that quoted me $175 to clean the throttle-body/injectors on my '01!! What can I say? NO--to the throttle-body cleaning!!

the stage 1 saga continues... until wer tire and yearn for Stage 2...SURE!
