Default Ouch

Got my Stage I, but here is the story. My wife, driving my '03GT at 85+ across Aligator Alley had a right front blowout with 20k miles on the tires. Fortunately, she said the PT handled well and she was able to bring it to a safe stop with minor wheel damage. While I had it in the shop, I had a new set of Michelin Pilots installed, the wheel fixed and lo and behold, by Stage I order had come in. I had just installed the AMX upcharge pipe to compliment the AMX pipe to the stock air box which I have modified by insulating it, adding the K&N drop in plus increasing the intake air, by removing the stock elbow and installing a larger plastic pipe elbow. Along with my custom paint job and billet grill, I'm pretty well set for awhile. My first WOT experience blew the upcharge pipe apart at the rubber coupling. It felt like someone had applied an airbrake. I have since solved the problem by applying gasket adhesive to the upcharge pipe connection and all is well. I am quite pleased with the performance.

Yep, your uppercharge pipe has to be FIRMLY attached or it can and will blow off the throttle body. I picked up a nice set of t-bolt clamps on ebay for a great price and put them on everywhere I have a connection with the VAK intake/ucp kit from prototypepower.com. I personally haven't had a single blow off, even at the track. Yeah, the t-bolts are overkill on the intake side, but they just look so cool!

But, Mike, where are your strut tower brace chrome top and nut covers? Remember, "it's the detail that counts" and you know you like "style". Time to buy some more MODS! [?]

PS: What's that "chrome thingy" in the lower part of the engine bay with the three connectors coming out of it? [:I]

Dang Mike, first time I've seen under your hood that I can recall. Very nice. [?]
