Hi folks. I'm new to the forum, been reading the posts for a while but now have registered. I have a new '05 GT and am interested in the benefits of Stage 1. I searched the archives regarding the issue of
emissions testing in Mass. but came up dry. Is anyone out there from Mass. with Stage 1 and if so, how did you deal with the testing regime? I'd rather not replace and remove boards if I don't have to. Recommendations anyone? By the way, I have a 5 speed if that makes a difference. |

I can only say that California will check for codes, and that the system readiness codes have been set. These are so that the old trick of disconnecting the battery to clear reoccuring codes won't work. The car must be driven a while under specfic conditions to set them. It means the computer has had time to check the monitored systems. A pass DOESN'T mean the systems have passed, just that the check has been run. I don't have a turbo or stage 1, so I will defer to those who do.

In Mass you get a 2 year free pass on emissions as I recall for a new car, so you wont have to worry until 2007
I would definalty get stg1, your worst case situation, you might have to spend 10 minutes swapping the PCM, really easy. Go for it and in two years try to see if it passes, if not just swap the stock PCM back in. I have an 03 GT 5spd. Dynoed it in NE Dyno in Worcester, got 225 WHP, 252 WTQ. Mike
