Default SRT 4 Stage 1 Works In GT

Check this thread out. A guy bought his buddy's SRT 4 stage 1, installed it in his GT, had it flashed and it worked.

http://www.ptforums.com/zerothread?id=2732

So it looks like a SRT 4 stage 2 will work in a manual GT. Wouldn't surprise me if it does. Chrysler wouldn't want to spend a lot of money for two different stage 1 & 2 pcms for the same year.

Tom,

Get ahold of the guy and see if his cruise control and A/C works. If I remember right there is a differance on how thoses are configured between the two cars. In fact I don't believe the SRT4 even has cruise-control. When 3-bar-boost was around I believe those accessories were mentioned that may not work if an ECU was switched between the two cars. Something also tells me there may be a problem on how the radiator fan is controlled to.

If he bought his buddy's hardware, and had it reflashed with new pt software, why wouldn't it work. That is the only difference in the manual computers. besides the fact that he said he got his computer flashes at a dealership...you can only get stage one flashed by flight systems. They just took a $300+ stage one computer, and turned it into a stock PT computer.

It should work, but I doubt whether the cruise control will work since the SRT-4 does not have it, do the later SRT's have cruise? The tuning has got to be different due to the different intake runner lengths, so performance would probably suffer. The a/c and aux.fan should work, but only if it is the correct year. Remember, the 03' has a different a/c and fan system than the 04'and up. Also, the SRT-4 pcm would only work with the manuals.
If they reprogramed the PCM then it would work. But, like Bigtommy says, it would be nothing more than S0.

Check out that thread again in my first post. Says he has been running it for 700 miles and no problems and everything works. Will be trying stage 2 in 3 weeks.

Not exactly true guys. Alot of the SRT-4 guys have been getting their Stage 1 PCM's flashed at the dealership to be used on other srt-4's. There is a certain way the dealership can do it, and it will just change the vin and pin (for the skim) and the programmimg will remain the same. A Dodge dealership I know said they will reprogram a stage 1 PCM I got to my vin and pin for only $45. They have done it to quite a few SRT-4's.

Ya, but that's going from a SRT to another SRT.
When you crossover to a PT, what exactly are they flashing?
Not like you can just supplement the SRT PCM with PT particular bits of programming.
So, they took a SRT S1 PCM and flashed the S1 prgramming, so now it's a PT S1. How much did he pay for them to flash the PCM?
That would make sense.
If it was a S2 SRT PCM, then flashing it with PT Programming demotes it back to S1 or stock.

Like MeanGreen said, this guy's installed the S/1 and everything seems to work and he's happy. He also has upgraded WGA, MAP clamp and boost control @ 18psi+. AND he will try S/2 in 2 or 3 weeks to see how that does. It may be time for a paradigm shift. [:I]

yeah, dealerships flash these things all the time. I cant see how the actual performance tune would be different between PTs and SRTs (manual vs manual of course). Since the engine and turbo are the same, I would think that the different performance aspects come from the ECU. Thats why a S1 in turbo lites and HO GTs result in the same power....just like the 03 SRTs get the same result as an 04 SRT with S1. Wait, I forgot about the injectors.

I have no actual proof, but my thinking is that the GTs have a different tune than the SRTs. A S1 GT is not a SRT S1. They are relative to each other. I guess this is what Im trying to say:
GT<GTS1, SRT<SRTS1, GTS1 not= SRTS1...therefore, SRTS1 in a GT should be better than GTS1 in a GT. (I hope im making this clear).
The only real way to test that theory is to have him dyno test. Of course, this is just a thought.
