This is actually one step better than a Stage 1 programmed by Mopar, since it will not set a P0633(SKIM key mismatch) code. This means your PCM has YOUR VIN, not the other vehicles VIN.
I don't get it. Mopar programs my VIN in Stage 1 initially and it still gives P0633 error (according to the manual) with my VIN in Stage 1. It must be something else then.
Naw, the only way to get rid of that code is to have the dealership enter your pin so the SKIM will send it to the PCM.

So without entering this pincode anyone could start my car with a simple copy of the key?

To tell you the truth, I don't know. Never tried it.

Hey, Sugamer....
This secret PIN# is a secret to me, I guess. Do I need to know mine? I have a S1 PCM that I got new from Tommy and installed myself. I've never bothered to check for codes. Will either of the "reflash" procedures remove the S1 code to hide it from emmissions tests? [:I]

I got this from the SRT-4 forums:

Used Stage 1 Rekey method

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You MUST get the original owners VIN for this procedure to work. And before you can start the procedures below, your flashing/rekeying dealer MUST call DCX (Dodge) with that VIN and get the original owners vehicle PIN.

This instructions are from the PL2000 Powertrain Service Manual.
The PIN referred to is a four digit code contained within your keys.

Thanks to ATL-SRT and his tech for finding this method and ensuring it works.

1. Turn the ignition on (transmission in park/
neutral).

2. Use the DRBIIIt and select THEFT ALARM,
SKIM, then MISCELLANEOUS.

3. Select PROGRAM IGNITION KEYS.

4. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle
four-digit PIN.

NOTE: A maximum of eight keys can be
learned to each SKIM AT ONE TIME. Once a
key is learned to a SKIM it (the key) cannot be
transferred to another vehicle."

While these instructions might not make any sense to you, they will to your tech. If you want to understand more about the whole Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) feel free to ask

Please instruct your dealer to follow the DCX procedures as found in the proper DCX manual, not these, these are intended strictly to show your dealer which procedure is to be used.

Don't worry about the P0633 error code when it comes to emissions testing. A few people have already passed inspections with flying colors with Stage 1, the P0633 code, and other mods besides Stage 1.

So, if understand it correctly, if you buy a used Stage 1 PCM you can enter your VIN and immobiliser key data by implementing procedure for programming new ignition keys from the service manual? Intersting...
BTW from reading the service manual I remember that for US vehicles you can program ignition keys yourself without DRBIIIt. I wonder if that could do the trick. I can't check it, since my car is an export model.

Yup, don't know if the rekey method will replace the VIN with your VIN, but I guess it would have to since I doubt the car would run with another VIN in the PCM. I guess I will try to have a "spare key" made today to see if the copy will allow the car to run, rather than the car shutting off after a few seconds.

Got a "chipless" simple copy made of my key made today. Tried it out, and sure enough, Junior turned off after a couple of seconds. And as long as the ignition was in the on position, the car would not start again. Took out the spare key and inserted my original factory "chipped" key. Started right up and never turned off. Guess that means the Sentry Key Immobilizer is still on point!

Thanks for this. Very comforting!
