I finally installed the VAK, regapped the plugs to .40 and installed the Magnecors. I have appreciably more power but NOW under WOT my DC hesitates between 1st and 2nd (auto). NEVER did that before. Did I wipe out any memory when I disconnedted the battery? Nothing else has been changed.
HELP!!!! |

Bob, when I wiped out my memory my tranny down shifted very hard but was OK upshifting. So if your problem is up shifting I would say to reprogramed the tranny. Then look for other things like vacuum leaks and electical gremlins and lastly check plugs again.

I assume when you say reporgram, you mean redo the tranny learning steps I accomplished after installing Stage I.
Any other ideas about why all of a sudden I now get this major hesitation when it shifts?

I had the same problem, corrected itself by regapping to .45. [:I] Could just be a qwirk with our engines. Been working great for me though, 7000 miles later.

I guess that is another reason to put in the NGK Iridium plugs cause they dont seem to care what the gap is. Mione ius gaped close to .55 and idles and accelerates like glass smooth. My engine seemed to be Ok with the factory plugs for the first 30,000 miles but these new plugs and MOPAR wires really make it super smooth![8)]

I've tried to regap my plugs from 50 to 42,44,45 with OEM plug wire and aftermarket plug wires. My car just doesn't like it. Always studders. Runs fine gapped at 50 [:I] That's with S1 & VAK also

That is a stumper alright. [:I] I could understand not running with wider gap but not running smooth with less gap just dont make sense to me.[:I] I would not worry about it cause you are better off running the wider gap anyways. I am running a wider gap yet but that is cause I am running the factory gap (0.55) of my NGK Iridium plugs.

It stumps me also. [:I] I have Jim's UCP, Stage 1, factory plugs regapped to .040, and Crane Firewire spark plug wires, and never ever had a miss or stall! Techinically, running the small gap is better because it is harder for the air from forced induction to "snuff out" the spark. I would say to pull out the Magnecors and try the stock wires again. Maybe one of the Mag wires is bad? [:I] Never heard of a Magnecor wire being bad, but anything is possible. [:I]
