Default Throttle response

My '04 GT is stock right now. I've noticed that it is fairly unresponsive at lower RPMs. My wife's Escape feels much more "eager" driving around town. Once I lay into the gas, the Cruiser feels much stronger, but I'm wondering about less than say 3500 rpm. Does the Stage 1 wake up the car any at lower RPMs? Or does it just increase the boost?

Also, what about shifting for the autostick. Does it shift gears any quicker?

The difference is typical of turbocharged vehicles. While the GT does a good job of creating torque and HP down low, the turbo kicks in at higher rpms and you get the kick in the back. Without kicking in the turbo, it is much more lethargic. Stage 1 will develop a little more power down low but it was designed to increase power at the mid and high rpm ranges where it really comes to life.

The autostick mode will allow you to hold shifts until you get to a higher rpm for better performance. If you put it in autostick mode and floor it, it will hold gears until about redline then shift by itself. That is typically the fastest way to get from point A to B.

Things like hyperground, Magnecore or Crane wires and gapping factory plugs at .040 will help a lot.

I did re-gap the plugs a few days ago from .55 down to about .43, and that did help. I guess I'll have to try the plug wires next.

RaceAndStreet.Com has a sale onCrane wires - good deal and only 25 ohms/foot.
Excellent service.

The turbo-charger does not engage until around 2500 rpm. [8)]

Turbocharger is "engaged" any time there is exhaust flowing through it no matter what the RPM. It churns out full boost at 2500 RPM's. Much lower than a lot of turbo cars because it is such a small turbo it spools up faster.
