Well I got the S-1 back from Flight Systems this week and installed it. WOW! What a difference. Let me think of the cliches.
1. This is what the GT should have been in the first place. 2. It's a whole new car 3. Kick in the pants 4. Anyone that wants real performance increases that you can feel has to do this. And all the rest. The car was fun to drive before, it's a ball to drive now! |

Wow is right. I had the same experience with the same car that you have. You're right, Chrysler should have included the Stage 1 performance as standard equipment. I noticed that the performance increased after the first 15 miles or so. Congratulations! I wonder what Stage 2 would have been like?

Yes, stage 1 is a very nice difference. Because I have an '03 I didn't want to hassle with the injectors so I had my dealer do it. When the mechanic brought me my GT he had a big smile on his face. He told me to watch the burning rubber because it was so easy now to do it.
"I wonder what Stage 2 would have been like?" I've got a pretty good idea what it was/is like [?]

Stage 1 is no good when something breaks on the car and the dealer blames stage 1 and won't cover it under warranty.

Yep, that is a calculated risk you take the moment you change anything to non-stock components. If the dealer can find a connection between the changed/modified parts and the breakage you can bet they will not warrant the repair. They must "prove" a direct connection between the modified part and the damage but increasing the horsepower can be tied to LOTS of things (engine, transmission, CV, etc).

Acutally I paid $225 for the S1 and about 35 for the repropgram I think. I had it shipped back to my wife's office and she paid for it so I don't know exactly. They do it COD. I also had to buy an intake manifold gasket for about 3 bucks I think. Install is not hard. I had done one before so I was familiar with the basics and I am a gearhead by avocation anyhow so it was no big deal. Just about an hour and a half from the first turn of the wrench to being out test driving. Taking my time to make sure it was right. Having a 5 speed is nice, not haveing to do the trans-learn proceedure. Oh, and my gas mileage has NOT improved yet. Mainly because I can't keep my foot out of it. I know, everyone thinks "I can do stage 1 and not use it, it will just be there when I 'need' it". Trust me, once you feel that extra push in your back you want to feel it again. You have to re-learn keeping the tire spin under control. Especially if you still have stock tires like me. So in conclusion, STAGE 1 IS NOT WORTH IT, if you want to go slower and keep your stock tires in tip top condition. (this was for Steelblue's benefit. for everyone else...WOOHOO!!!!) ![]() ![]() ![]() [8)]
