It is in no way open. Hemi as the term implies if HALF of a sphere. The head CC is shpaed like a sphere cut in half.
As in this link here http://www.thehemi.com/heads.php Now the new HEMI is just marketing hype. Now look at the new head. It is nowhere near a half sphere. Yes the valves are opposing, but that isnt what makes a hemi head. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/images/n...i/5.7-head.jpg |

To MVANDALE.... And that is my point in my previous post..The word Hemi...is in reference to the head not the piston...Heck you could put flat top pistons in the 426 Hemi and it is still a Hemi...But as far as the 2.4 and the NEW HEMI...They do not have a True Hemi Head....

On other point the location of the valves has NOTHING to do with a Hemi Head...It is the Head itself with the Half circle design that makes it a Hemi.....You could have the valves side by side or on either side of the spark plug and it is still a Hemi....
