I opted for the manual after my cousin had problems with her automatic, plus i hear the auto drives like a slug, but i would need somewone who owns one to let me know how you feel.

Yes, the slush box is a slug. Lots of wasted HP.
And it dies young.

sure, manuals will eventually need clutches. but thats a cheaper job than a rebuilt juice drive.

The autostick in my GT was never a slug, especially when I put it in autostick mode. And it's only 5% more wasted hp than the stick's 15%, so that's not a huge difference. Driven both and like both, but NYC traffic can be murder if you own a stick so I opted for the autostick.

ah... GT with autostick... a different animal entirely.

Non-Turbos with the classic slushbox automatic is a slug.

As for NYC traffic... every now and then while creeping along on the BQE ("NYC's Longest Parking Lot") with my left calf muscles cramping from constant little advances, I regret my choice of transmissions. Or my choice of routes. Or my choosing not to use mass transit for that trip.

got it checked out at a trans shop i found through AAA. he dropped the pan and did find something amiss inside, though the exact nature of what he found eludes me at the moment. he replaced the fluid and filter, but the problem persisted. he suggested replacing the valve body ($500) but said that that had a 50/50 chance of fixing the problem. he quoted $1800 for the rebuild. however he also said there was a chance that the computer controller was faulty, though he didn't find any fault codes from what i understand, and that possibly after the rebuild the problem would persist proving that the controller was at fault.
