From all that I have read, owners who use premium fuel in their PT Cruiser turbo cars (both "lite" and "HO") get somewhat better gas mileage than when regular is used.

Thanks Ice man and red GT...fellow "zonies". I'll keep using my QT top tier premium. Do either of you attend the monthly PT cruise in Glendale?

I have an interesting side bar to this topic. I was watching the "Modern Marvels" program on the History Channel about the pipeline system for gasoline transport.

All gasoline from all refineries is generic, exactly the same. The seller in Houston puts "x" amount of gallons in the pipeline and the same day the buyer in Chicago, Cleveland, New York takes out an equal amount of gallons. The buyer will then blend in his own additives to his required formula before delivery to the local gas stations. It's all done with the same base but with custom additives.

Well, it was new to me. Class dismissed.[]

I understand all your comments, and YES I will be using high octane gasoline. My question was if the dealer filled the first tank with regular gas, if any damages will arise in the future. Thank you for everyone's information provided about this topic. And YES you are all correct, if you buy a performance vehicle use the right octane on the gasoline, if you cano afford the gasoline then buy another vehicle.

Exactly buddy! I don't think you'll do any damage with the first tankful since you will be breaking in the car with that first tankful, and should be taking it kinda easy anyway.

Back in my days working in new car prep for a major dealer we used to be careful about putting the right fuel in new cars. If a new car came back with a report of engine knock, the service manager would be pretty annoyed with me.

Do you have any reason to suspect the dealer of cheaping out on the fuel? (not that any of us would be surprised of underhanded or just plain stupid behavior on the part of a dealer)

Do I think that the dealer will use cheap gasoline, hell YES!!. In this area of Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. customers are not first. Dealers wants your money, and then you get mediocre service. I found out that the dealer I bought the car, their service department really sucks, first come, first serve service. No appointment is necessary. When I had all my convertible problems, they did take care of me because they outsource the what we called a "technician". There was one customer that brought their car to get the brakes fix on warranty work, and I overhead the dealer telling him that they probably will see the car the next day. He brought the car to them 2 days prior. Is that service? NO!! By the way he did buy the car from them too. The service department should take appointments like every other dealership service department. In conclusion this dealer is looking to be part of the five star dealer. We will see if they get it.
By the way, we should open a new topic for all the forum members to see about our dealership experience with service department, salesperson, and ask which dealers we received good service and bad service, and the city and state. If I knew that this dealer will have a mediocre service department, I probably never bought my PT convertible from them. Only my two cents.
