At long last, the dealership was able to pinpoint the cause and fix the problem.
I left my 03 Dream Cruiser with the dealer for 6 days while I flew out to Poulsbo, WA to play golf with a friend. I invited the shop foreman to drive it as his while I was gone so he would have a better understanding of the problem. All of the problems I was having surfaced while he was driving it - voltage spikes causing the headlights to glow brighter, the A/C fan to speed up, dash lights to glow brighter and cracks thru the sound system. Cause was bad voltage regulation by the PCM. Correction was to replace and program PCM. Following are tech notes from the invoice:"PCM reading voltage spike coming from alternator, shutting down alt output when output rear was normal, causing lights, etc to flicker." So far, so good! |

Um, thats pretty interesting considering a few here have done that ground wiring thing. I am sure you'll get some responces here. Good post. I might add, it appears that you have a good dealer here.

I never had the problem as bad as yours. Mine just seemed to dim while braking directly after I started it up cold and backed it out of driveway. Also my airbag light on dash took forever to go out on a very hot day with A/C on and fan at highest speed when I started the car up after it had been driven in high temps for a while. Both small problems have been solved with the Sun Grounding System installed about 3 o ago!

Hey SteelBlueGt, where did you purchase your grounding kit and which kit is it? I have the same flashing lights when rolling down windows, applying the brake, etc.

Hypergrounding kits work like the Sun kit, BUT I would buy a heavy duty 9005/9006 combination headlight harness with relays and that will solve any problems with dimming or blinking. You will be running/powering the lights direct from the battery. The OEM harness just plugs into the HD harness and acts only as a switch to turn the lights on/off. Some people also buy the 9006 HD harness with relays for the fog lamps.
The harness basically looks like this: ![]() Installation for a Toyota, but most of it can be applied to a PT: http://sleeoffroad.com/installation/harness_install.htm ![]()
