P0441 error code

Have a 2005 PT Cruiser GT Convt. I bought on Ebay. Found out the car was built for Mexican market - so no US warranty. Got a great price, so can't complain.
Drove from Michigan to Fl. car has 3,000 km on speedo. Got a check engine light and code is for Evap.flow system error. This does not look critical, can I drive car back to Mi. ?
I heard that mfr's have to repair emissions problems anyways, is this true? New to no warranty situation. Love the car!!

Usually that error code means that the gas cap isn't on right (tight) or that the vehicle was started with the cap off. If this is the case, the error code should go away after the cap is reset and the engine started and ran a few times so that the computer can see that all is well.

Most likely the case with so few miles on the car.
As to warranty and emissions, I believe that applies to cat converter - that they have to warranty converter for 50,000 miles - but that's for a US-spec car.......[:I]
