Default Yet another Power Steering problem

The wee beasty has given me the first 'road trip' headache... power steering failure while making a hard turn at speed.

No accident, but a worrisome trip to a nearby Pep Boys where the mechanic found one of the power steering lines had unscrewed from the rack.
He had never seen such a thing in his decades of mechanicing.
so 65$ plus tax, and keep topping off the fluid as the bubbles work out of out the rack.

Sigh.

So, has anyone else had a PS line disconnect?

Your's is the first one I've heard of of all the PT forums (7 at last count)that I go to. Had my unit blow turning a turn (that wasn't fun) and supposedly we all had the dealer check the lines from the pump that run under the auto trans which could rub and cause a fire. That was a major recall for most of us. Did you have that recall done? Could they have loosened the hose to re-route it and didn't tighten it back all the way? [:I]

1- the recall didn't affect me as it was only the Autotranny PTs that had the problem, not the 5-speeds.

2- thanks.... the failure wasn't =that= scary once I figured out what had happened. (Other than the fear of ma$$ive repair bill$ and disrupted plans.)
