If the problem is just the cheap-crud spongy rubber factory bushing, you can upgrade to Booger Bushings for about 22$.

Besides fixing the problem for less $, you also get crisper shifts.

Here's the full SAD update.

1)Did a tune up plug and wires (parts and labor) $100

Problem - Bad gasket, oil is leaking inside the spk plus....yes miss firing......one spark plug can't be replace too tight......so it was oiled and have to wait until the oil get to to the threats to loosen it up.....if they forcifully gun it it may break and my buddy say I WILL need a new cylinder head.

The Good - after replacing 3 spk plugs and wires last friday the car got full power back no weak feeling and no jerking...no more misfiring. thats only 3 plug I'll wait and see what happen when I get my car back tomorrow

2)The shifter cable bushing is broken and the WHOLE line need to be replace because dealer don't sell that bushing along(another reason not to buy chysler - parts = $200 labor $240 = $440

They say it cost so much for the labor is because the engine need to be tilled to have it remove and install I beleieve them with that tight PT engine compartment

Problem - the shifter can be loose any moment and I don't wanna stuck in 5 going 90mph...most be fix

What I could have don't myself - it's possible to replace the bushing yourself with any $10 home made rubber piece but better to be safe

3)Timing belt and water pump replacement .....labor $260 parts(from ebay $60 BUT they say the belt tensioner is worned and would not last another 6 month the cost for that part(KIT) $200!

I'll have the full result by tomorrow noon but just this mid life crisis is costing me well over $900 luckily I have a decent job these days and not in school anymore or else.

MORE PROBLEM - interior plastic panels popping off my it self one speaker is bad and the gap on my dash board is getting bigger and bigger and I need a rear bumper cover which cost around $400 each! and I need a paint job on the rear of the car.....I figure this mid life fix for this whole car would cost me atleast $1500 when it's all over....in some way I should have lease this car......the down payment these days is 3000$down and 100/month for 27 month..........but than this is my car and if i don't fix it it'll hurt my wallet even more later

O MAN!!!!!!!!!

Why didn't I post earlier! dealer don't sell that part and it's like $200 for the cable and labors $240

$26 dollar vs. $440 is ALOT! O man I feel like I got hit real bad Well I'm sure it will break again around 140,000 miles

Be sure some anti-seize gets on the threads of those spark plugs...

I was just breezing through here and noticed I have the same problem with my cruiser at just under 50 thou. I did my wires and plugs myself at 20,000, stock plugs were crap. Did double plats and magnecor 8.5mm wires, pt ran great after.

My Pt felt really sluggish and had bad electrical problems, like the lights diming out to start and when the A/C fan came one, OMG it was like the PT wanted to shut down. I got a new battery and installed myself considering they wanted me to seat around and wait for 2 hours to install. It ran better after by far.

Now I have the sputtering and feeling of stalling out sometimes too. I guess I will have to invest in some Crane wires this time around. Plat plugs should be OK I guess and the stock spark box will stay. Other then that it may need a check on the fuel filter, water pump, PCV valve, timing belt, and the cat. But only one of those I can check myself.

Well I hope to keep reading this and see if you could figure out the problems you are having because they sound alot like mine, with the exception of the manual tranny.

make sure to have some one with exp check to see if your valve cover gasket is going bad and no oil is leaking into your spk plugs! also replace the manifold gasket when you do the tune up
