Default Passenger side airbag

I have a 2003 PT. I also have 3 kids...now. (didn't when I bought it.) Anyway, is there a way to turn off the passenger side airbag? My oldest son is 8 but still not big enough to get around the airbag dangers.

Can you do it?

I thought I read a couple years ago that you could have a switch put in professionally to turn off the passenger side air bag. Not sure of the exact wording of the law so you might want to change with your local law enforcment to see if your state allows it. My wife's new Suzuki shows a small warning that the passenger air back is off when seating pressure in the passenger seat is not enough for the computer to think there's someone sitting there...not sure of the weight it's looking for and I never tested it with a child.

On my other car a twelve pack of Becks makes the computer ring until I put the seat belt around the twelve pack

You could just remove the airbag fuses. But then the driver's side would not work.

The safest thing to do is to put all 3 in the back seat.
