Default Sudden drop in power

I have a 2005 non-turbo w/manual tran. that has had the same problem since I bought it new but no one(the dealership) can come up with an answer.

When the fan for the heater is turned on or when the fan for the radiator comes on there is a noticable drop in power. you can feel it in the car as well as see it on the tach.

They say that no codes come up. and that the rough idle is normal. How can you sell a new car where the rough idle is normal?

I have replaced the plugs and wires
and I have replaced the air filter w/ a K/N with no change.

Is the dealer agreeing with you on yor loss of power when either fan comes on? If so, and he's also agreed that your supposed to have a rough idle, ask for a demonstration ride in a similar equiped PT from the lot with a mechanic or the service manager with you. If there's no rough idle, and no loss of power on the demonstrator, ask him why?

Have you checked for any codes yourself? Put the key in the ignition, turn key on-off-on-off-on (not start-off-start-off-start!). Any codes will display in the odometer window. if all you see is "done", then there are no codes. Report back to us....

All I got was "done"

when this loss of power occurs at night (on a dark road) I can also see the lights dim for a second. Could be as simple as a bad ground?

I have an 05 and when I first noticed the problem they said it was normal due to the OE plugs and wires and then replaced them. It seemed like it seemed more powerful but it did not seem to help the intermittent loss of power while either of the fans ingage.
