Default 985CAP

Does anyone know what this code means(985CAP or 98SCAP)? I see it on my instrument panel while the check endine light is on when I am driving my 2006 PT Cruser with 1100 miles on it.

It is more than likely actually GASCAP. The CHeck engine light is on for probably an evaporative missions leak. The engine computer looks at fuel level everytime you start the veh. If it notes a large increase in fuel level from the last time and then sets an evaporative emssions code then it will show you the GASCAP trying to tell you that the it thinks the gas cap is loose. Check the gascap to make sure it is tight on seated properly. If all that looks good then take it the dealership and have them check it out. I had a 05 Dodge P/U that I worked on that was doing the same thing. Come to find out the evap harness had come loose and part of it melted on the exhaust manifold.
My advise....take it the dealership that you bought it from. Generally they will take care of it for free the first time if it's a loose gas cap...
