MJB,

IMHO, there's no exact time to change.
If you have no signs of plug/wire wear, meaning stuttering, mis-fire, rough idle, then there's really no reason to change out either item. To be on the safe side, have the plugs and wires on-hand and change them out somewhere around 25K, if you can get that far without any of the above signs.

OK, I guess I should have asked what mileage you already had.[xx(] If all the services like trans fluid change and injector cleaning were done, I would have thought whoever had that done would have also changed plugs and wires as the originals aren't that good. Was there any kind of service records with the PT? How did you know the services were done? Are you the original owner?

The recommended plug change is at 30K miles. If you change the plugs with Champion double platinum plugs #7570 AND the wires with something better than OEM (Crane wires from www.RaceandStreet.com or Mopar performance wires P/N P4876511DD) you should be able to go 60K miles before changing the plugs again.

[8)]Ok I got some #7570 Platinum & Borg Warner upgrated wires, Now some are saying not to use the platinums including dealer? I thought that was the case with Turbos not Non turbo engines? Im confused now,,, I always used platinum as replacements in other 4 cylinders and loved them,,, they lasted much longer... advise??? thanks[?]

MJB
Platinums are fine and recommended for the non-turbo. They were developed with the help of our own MX-5 here on the forums!
Set the gap to 0.040" per the latest TSB.

You have a NA, the plugs you got will work in it. Congratulations on the purchase of the PT.
