Default Idling Hesitation

While stopped at traffic light and car is idling, the engine will stutter/hesitate a couple of times. No roughness in accelerating. No hesitation cruising. Any ideas?

Yep! Plugs and wires. They are both weak links in the ignition system and need to be replaced.

Thanks for the suggestion. But wouldnÂ’t weak spark plugs/wires cause the hesitation problem at all speeds. I was wondering if it wasnÂ’t the automatic transmission at idle.

You might think so, but on both my '02 and my '05 I had the symptoms you describe, and plug/wires cured it, so once again I agree with Crewzin.
Besides, plugs & wires are relatively cheap and can't hurt.
Do a search here - there are instructions for replacing the plugs yourself.[?]

Hey Ken - did changing the plugs and wires cure the problem?
I have been having the same issue with my '04. I had the dealership change out the plugs and wires as well as had my injectors and throttle control cleaned. It was only a day or two later that the problem returned.
Took the car back to them - they drove all day couldn't get the engine to hesitate or stall.
So if you did change out plugs and wires and it worked - what plugs and wires did you go with, I don't think the ones they put in are doing the trick.

Yeah i agree with crewizn, its the plugs and wires. I would also check the transmission, sence the automatic transmission the the cruisers are crap.

Datalink,

You just asked that question in another thread. Probably the same answer as above with any stumble, hesitation and rough idle....ignition parts.

The best wires are Magnecore and Crane. I've never seen a bad post about them, only parise.
I used Cranes from RaceAndStreet.Com.
Plugs - If you don't have a turbo, you can use platinums for longer life. If you have a turbo, copper or irridium only.
