Default Noisy Brakes!!!

I'm sure some of you have had this problem...

I have an '04 PT Base model with auto trans and my brakes are always squeaking!!! It's driving me nuts!!! I took it to the dealership twice. The first time, they said it was normal. The second time, they took the breaks off and cleaned everything off. They were quiet for about 2 weeks and then it started back up again! AAARRRGGGHHH!![xx(]

3 weeks ago I installed brand new ceramic pads in front and I'm still getting the squeak. Now it appears/sounds to be the rear wheels. They're drums back there and I have a lot of pad left on them.

What I can I do to get rid of this annoying squeaking? It's embarrassing to have a car that looks nice, but sounds like crap. I'm at my wits end.[:0]

ANY help or suggestions, would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll just have to remove my rear wheels every few weeks and clean out the dust. What a pain!!! If I had only known, I never would have bought my cruiser[V]. My next car will definitely be a Toyota!!!

Yes it happens. But it does happen on all vehicles. Do you do alot of stop and go? What pads or shoes are you using? Stock or aftermarket?
This is what you can do to get rid of it. Check your rotors and/or drums, make sure you do not have any hard spots or groves from wear. If you do, resurface the rotors and/or drums. If the hard spots are deep replace the rotors and/or drums. Also replace your pads and/or shoes. I recommend Bendix pads and shoes. Why? Better made than many others and lifetime warranty. Never buy pads or shoes again. I know many autoparts sell others and claim to be the best but I have worked in the automotive industry for over 18 years as a brake, suspension and alignment specialist and found the Bendix to be way better made than others. They make an anti squeak pad. Remember to make sure all you moving parts are lubricated so as to not cause any uneven pad wear and or squeak from those moving parts. If any of the rubber gromets are torn or deteriorated replace them. That way you wont have to deal with uneven wear or squeaking. Us the anti squeak shims for your pads. Also replace the hardwear kit in the rear. Remember the springs that hold your shoes in the rear loose thier spring retention because of the daily use and heat produced during breaking. I hope that this helps. I know it is alot of info. Shoot me an email and I will answer any questions you may have. Later[^]

That is not true...I have two Honda Civics a 2003 and a 2004 along with my pt...One civic has 32,000 and the other has 52,000 on it. Both original brakes with drums in the rear...never a peep out of them....It is the old saying...garbage in garbage out...
