Default Strawberry Ice Cream

I have some type of pink thick sludgy stuff, looks like Strawberry Ice Cream. Actually it looks like Tranny stop leak fluid, funny I don't remember putting that anywhere in my PT, yet.

Does that sound like anything you guys know about?

Colby,

Where is this "thick, slimmy pink stuff? On the engine, under the car when you park? If so, where is the spot on the ground? Anywhere near the front under the radiator, or behind the passenger wheel but towards the center of the car like it's leaking from the air-condition condensor overflow tube?

Its in the engine. Near the radiator, looks like its dripping from what the radiator attaches too, I don't know this are of a motor yet.

Now I never had anyone talk to me about doing something with this section, but if I can find in my repair lists....who knows.

I tried to take a pic of it here.

Pull your oil dipstick and look at the oil on it - is it clear, or "muddy"? Have you lost any coolant? I hope you don't have a head gasket leak....[:0]

Colby,

Found this....

Automatic Transmission Fluid: Place a couple of drops of warm fluid on a white paper towel and wait a minute. If the fluid spreads and is light brown, red, or pink in color it is still good. AFT does get a little darker with use. However, if the spot remains small and is dark brown or even black, oxidation and varnish is a problem. It is definitely time to replace the fluid and have the transmission checked out.

Smell the fluid. If it has a slight burnt odor this is probably normal. However, if it has a strong odor like rotten eggs or burned electrical parts, there is definitely a problem. A milky pink look probably means engine coolant is leaking into the transmission, a condition that should be corrected immediately.

Here's the whole article...

Well see when I first noticed this problem the fluid was a little runny. Had the PT in for service and all checked out fine. At the time had the transmission fluid changed and everything then. I got no word from the tech that anything was bad. Now that same spot is dried up and crusty, its been like 10000 miles since I had first noticed it.

It looks to me like what I have used for stop leak in my Nissan.

I was just wondering, cause I thought this could be way my A/C is acting funny and or low on coolant.

Based on the pictures, this is on the opposite side of where the transmission is, unless it's from the transmission cooler???[:I]

That looks like the red coolant that PT cruisers use. I dries up pink on the outside. Looks like you have a gasket leak where the thermostat housing sits. It's an easy fix. You have to remove the thermostat and replace the gasket, I would also replace the coolant and have the radiator flushed to prevent any of that stuff from gunking up the inside of your radiator. My old neon once did this and it eventually started to overheat. Better to replace the rubber "o" ring around the thermostat too while your at it. The 2nd picture clearly shows it coming from the bottom of the thermostat housing plate. Where the black plastic meats the cast-iron part of the lower intake manifold.

[|)] That looks like dried coolant. Make sure the leak is fixed, and the system flushed properly. Use the Mopar coolant, if possible. It costs more, but I don't trust the "works with any coolant" stuff. There are too many different, non-compatible coolants out there now. You can't get every trace of the old stuff out, so use something that is the same.
