Default Lights are still dimming

I installed an extra ground wire from the Neg. batt. terminal to the frame but the lights still sometimes dim for a second when the fan is turned on, hit the brakes, etc. it does not do it as much since i installed the extra ground but should i just keep installing a few more? Is there a better spot than the firewall to add a ground that would help the lights?

CREWZIN sent me a great picture with 3 spots and I mounted it to one of the bolts on the computer on the firewall. Once again should I keep putting more on until the problem disapears?

Justine,

It can't hurt to add the others. The whole idea is to get everything grounded so a couple more from the negative side of the battery to the frame and to a good grounded bolt on the engine "might" help you with the lights.

Think about what is going on. When you add an extra electrical load (turning something on), the charging system must produce more voltage to compensate. This is controlled by the computer, driving the alternator field circuit. What you are seeing is the lag time between the computer noticing the extra load and the charging system producing the extra power. An extra ground can help, it could be normal, or it could be an indication of a bigger problem. Try another ground (doesn't cost much or hurt) then if it's still there, have the starting/charging system checked.

Try replacing the factory ground on the passenger side that goes from the back of the engine block to a spot near or on the motor mount.
