I just got back form a ride and the noise inside is a bit too much for me in gentle acceleration. This is interior noise; I drove down a city I street with buildings on both sides to it listen to the n echo noise and it was wonderful. Turned a few youngsters heads as well.

When you stomp on it you do not hear a thing. Also the time lag from the turbo pushing air the engine and the air in the exhaust catching up with the flow is just gone. It used to take about 3 seconds for the turbo now it just leaps up and goes. I even felt the front end lifting up and that has never happened.

These are great. Top is all off with 2 chrome oval tips in the rear and it makes for a wonderful package.

CHIP, I would way a few hundred miles and let the muffler "break-in" a little bit. I noticed that after about 500 miles of driving with it, the interior noise dimished a bit, and the sound sort of smoothed out. Something to consider before you put a resonator on.

Chromed - On my N/A 2001, I have the airaide intake, and also put JBA headers on last year. You can say that I am working my way from the front to the back.

You are definitely going to notice a difference then. I would go to your local reputable muffler shop, and have them custom build you a setup, you will probably save a few bucks and get what you want, and get it welded, not clamped.

What kind of difference is between welding and the factory clamps? I have noticed that the stock exhaust is clamped.

Welds just make for a tighter more secure fit... you don't have to worry about a clamp coming loose.

Chromedcruiser, thanks for the advice. It will be several weeks before I can even think about getting it back in the shop so several hundred miles can easily be put on before we make the final decision. I drove it today in an underground garage and the sound was wonderful. Lots of heads were looking for the source and big smiles when they saw it was a cruiser.

I absolutely love running through a crowd of ricers and just letting off the clutch and gracing them with that flowmaster sound. If you have the 5 speed, I would run it up a bit, and then just let off the gas, allow the "pop pop pop" to go through and let the revs fall, I think that helps with the break-in as well. If you've got the tiptronic, I'm not sure how well that would work. It should mellow though in a few hundred miles.

Went to a shop yesterday and had the PT put on a dyno. Very interesting to hear the Flowmasters wind up to full throttle.

I was with a Mustang club and the little PT just did not sound like a Shelby wound out but it did turn a few heads since it certainly did not sound "riecey." By way, 154 hp at the wheels with the turbo lite, K&N drop in filter and the FLowmasters. The folks at the shop said the Stage 1 is the thing to do next to increase horsepower. The chart showed a nice even hp curve up with max torque at about 4200 rpm.

Oh, you definitely want to do Stage 1. That is almost a must when you buy the turbo.
