was the car at a high idle ??

My 2001 Cruiser runs for a while then it seems to dis connect from the tranny, then idles very high. Are you familiar with this same problem. I have not yet repaired the problem. I'm hoping for a simple fix.

My cruiser idles high while driving and seems to disconnect from the transmission. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this same experience.

does it feel like the idle is high and the car isnt moving ?? that would be the transmission slipping, or are you familiar with passing gear?? say the car is going along you put the peddle to the floor the idle comes up and the car takes off is that it ??

exactly, but the the car does not re-engage. After the car sits for a while, you can drive the a short distance, then it starts all over again.

The 5 speed gives you better acceleration, gas mileage and more reliability. Sure, more work, but not THAT much more (don't give me that 'stop and go traffic' whine. I live in NY(you know what word goes here)City we got more traffic at 3AM then most places have at rush hour).

(Ok, if you got a physical limitation I guess you gotta go with an automatic... but otherwise...)
