Default Rear Drum Brakes

It is well known that the rear drum make noise....I have heard that it is the shoe material causing it and I also have heard that it is the cheap steel used in the drum that is causing the noise....Has anybody found a solution to the problem????...Besides cleaning the dust out every month or so....

I read on one site that theproblem is the cheap steel they are using for the drums...But I want to be sure before I replace them that ...that is the problem and not the shoes....

keep an eye on your local pick n pull. If you can get the parts from there, it's not cost prohibitive at all. I'd go with new discs and pads, but the hardware will be fine, and the calipers should be fine, and if not, rebuildable. Other than that, I don't definitively know the answer to your original question, but I would look to the shoes first (cheapest part to start with). Make sure all the hardware is exactly where it needs to be as well. Good luck...
