Default That Darn Hum

2004 PT / GT - 23k miles

Just an FYI - I had this noise coming from the front passenger side for a couple of months now. It would come and go and of course never whine when I had time to take it to the shop. Last weekend it finally became constant. It sounded much like when you have a bubble in the tire or a busted a steel belt. The goodyear rubber needed to be seriously replaced anyway so I dropped $600 and bought 4 new tires on Monday hoping that the noise would go away. Of course I didn't. So I took it to my local dodge dealer this morning and mentioned that I was reading the forums and I'm scared its a wheel bearing. The service manager was thinking brakes. I just got the call that my diagnosis was correct. The bearing are on order. Luckily its all under warranty.

Great that forums helped.
In my opinion, bearings can be like starters - sometimes they just go, sometimes they last forever...

I had mine replaced at 17,000 miles on an '05. I think the ones on my '04 SRT-4 Neon are bad too at 30,000 miles.

You were lucky...

Often the only way to get rid of an annoying noise from the passenger side requires a divorce. Which is really expensive.
