Default Hesitating 01 Cruiser

Hey guys, i've got a 01 PT Cruiser. I've had it for almost 2 years and it's always ran great. Until recently. It's developed a bad hesitation. Only when taking off from a dead stop. Like, leaving a stop light or stop sign. Once it gets going, it seems to run fine. What do you guys think? Plugs? Wires? I was thinking fuel filter. Then I found out the fuel filter is non-serviceable. Is this correct? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Jake. Yep, the fuel filter is inside the gas tank and usually not replaced. You didn't say how long it's been since the plugs or wires were changed but it's a good bet that one or the other is your problem. If you have any mechanical skills at all, both the plugs and wires can be changed without too much trouble using the step by step guide here:

Get some decent aftermarket plugs and wires (not from your Chrysler dealer) and use anti-seize on the plug threads and die-lectric grease on the plug ends.

Do you use injector cleaner each oil change? It may be a good idea to do it.Provided that you don't use the original crap stock wires there shouldn't be a problem. please excuse me, after a few beers an a couple margartias my logic may be a little off!

I doubt if the plugs or the wires have ever been changed. We ran some injector cleaner threw it a week or two ago. No difference. Sounds like the plugs/wires are the culprit. Next Saturday im going to do it. Thanks guys!

Thanks for telling us. We know 90+% of the time it's plugs/wires, but unless you come back and tell us, we can't be sure.
Glad all's well.[?]
