Just thought I'd give an update....

What an absolute nightmare! This has been going on since the car accident on 3/15/07.

The car is still in the repair shop. They thought it needed a new ECM so they ordered one, replaced it, and it did nothing. So, it wasn't that. Now, they think that a wire is pinched somewhere, but they have no idea where. So we're looking at hours and hours and hours of labor costs for a tech taking apart the whole damn car and trying to figure out which wire it is. They have never seen anything like this at their repair shop. The tech said it could cost upwards of $5000 because of the time and labor spent.

The car is still sitting at the repair shop because they don't want to do any more work until they make the insurance company and the auto body shop aware of the costs that may be involved. It won't be determined if the auto body shop or car accident is to blame until they find the wire that's causing the problem. I'm sure we will hear from everyone on Monday about this...

Someone needs to pay for this, and it should not be us!!! The car was mechanically fine when we took it to the auto body shop and now it's useless. I really hope we don't have to end up going to court over this, because we sure as heck don't have $5000 to pay out of pocket for this!

Doesn't sound right. There ought to be a connector at the tranny, and pinouts of what each pin does, what voltage should be on each pin, etc. To look at wires randomly..... will take time, but $5,000 should by LOTS of time - seems more time than there are wires - just my opinions.
