Do I have an alarm (2001 limited)

Hello List,

As I understand, if security led in dash cluster flashes when I lock the doors, it means the alarm is activated, right?

Well, mine is not flashing, when remote key is pressed, just a small blink from hazards and no flashing led inside, does this mean that I don't have an alarm or maybe something defective? (if I press the remote key panic button, it starts honking in rhythm and hazards flashing...)

Is there a diagnostic I may run?

The alarm IS the horn and lights. Just roll down your drivers door window, close the doors and lock the car with the remote. Wait a minute or two and reach in and open the door without using the remote. The horn and lights should go start to sound/flash.

Yes, there is a small red dot in the middle of the left side guage (gas/water temp) that blinks for about 15 seconds when you lock the car with the remote.

I also have a 2001 limited. Do you have 2 or 4 window switches in the center console. The very early 2001 cruisers only have 2 window switches and maybe the alarm isn't an option on those.

Thank you for your reply, I have 4 window switches in the center console. When I lock the car with the remote key, the red dot in the middle of the left side guage (gas/water temp) does NOT blink...

The only way the horn and lights start to sound/flash is when I press the panic button in the remote...??

Any ideas? tests?

There is fuse for the ALARM but it works other things too and your not mentioning other things not working. It's the #10 fuse in the fuse box that's located in the engine compartment.
