Default Fast idle in cold weather?

I just got my 2001 Cruiser in 12/01. It had 27 miles on it, I am up to about 800 now. The weather was in the 50's and 60's. Last week, temperatures returned to the norm's of 20's and 30's. Since then, when I first start the car, it idles really fast and sounds like a volkswagon. It doesn't start to purr until after a few miles and the temp guage is midway between hot and cold. Is this normal. Is this because of the oil, part of break-in? Thanks for your help.

Katy it should idle a little faster for a short time when colder. Check your tach when it's doing it,time how long it stays @that rpm. also check the rpm when it's idling normally. From your description you may need to return to dealer.
