Default Service manual/wire diagram tech question

A little background. The wife has a 2001 Cruiser w/auto trans. I drove it home and parked it, tried to start it the next day and nothing. Gauges, lights, fuel pump all work but nothing out of the starter. Starter cranks good per the starter solenoid test (Pg. 8B-2) step 7. Replaced the original battery just because, (which was still working fine) no help. Going through the 2001 service manual starting system both the “starter solenoid” and “starter relay” diagnosis & tests check good. Doing the “relay circuit test” steps 1,2, & 3 check good. At step 4, I’m not getting battery voltage at terminal 86 (or any other terminal) in the start position.

Note; per Fig. 2 and the chart below it on page 8B-3 it calls out terminal 86 also being pin 1.
(lost yet?) Wire diagram on page 8W-21-2 shows a circuit between ignition switch terminal 6 and starter relay terminal B4.

Where the heck is terminal B4 on the relay????

I have a yellow 14 gauge wire between terminal 6 of the ignition switch and the starter relay pin 2 or terminal 85.

Any other ideas on where to look?

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

Getting away from all the wiring stuff, have you checked the "Starter Relay" in the fuse box under the hood? Here's a diagram of the 2001 fuse box that located in the engine compartment. It's 180 degrees from the actual placement of the box, meaning the HOT connection (big round terminal) is on the right inside the engine compartment vise on the left in the picture. The Starter Relay (B) is located just under the Horn relay (A). All the relays are the same so try swapping the Horn relay (make sure it's working by hitting the horn) with the Starter relay. Could be as simple as that relay being blown. Check all your fuses both inside and in the engine compartment too.

All the fuses and the relay check good.

Could this be the transmission interlock?

Try jiggling the shift lever, maybe try putting it in (N)uetral and trying to start it?
