Question AIR FILTER QUESTION

Does K&N have an air filter for the 2005 PT Cruiser? Do any of the high performance air filters help with 1. acceleration 2. gas mileage?

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, K&N does make a filter for the 2005. Maggie at Race&Street has some of the best prices and customer service. Here's a link:
PT Cruiser Filter - K&N Drop-in Available for 2006-07 Also: Race and Street

If you want to spend some more money, click back on the site to "Performance" and check out the systems that replace the whole stock air filtering system from K&N and other suppliers.

Will it help in mileage and performance. Any improvement in air intake will help the N/A (Non-turbo) PT. Letting the engine breathe better can only have positive affects.

Don't waste your money. Use paper. The K&N is a messy, time-consuming pain to clean/re-oil. There are a few tests out there showing K&N filters no better than paper. Then there is the ongoing issue of it potentially sucking in the oil you put on it. No idea if that is really a problem, but why risk it?

Oh yes - drove one on the wife's PT for over a year - claims of added MPG and power are ridiculous.

There is a nay-sayer in every crowd! I've used K&N drop-ins in all my vehicles. I clean them every three months, whether they look dirty or not. I have a 1995 Olds Aurora, still has it's first K&N in it, 275000 miles later.

Don't listen to the BS. Go do the research, google K&N filter facts, or look at the review's for K&N. You will see that, over time, it's not only a cost savings but you're not tossing a paper air filter in the dump every 6 months.

Oh, and I'm sure the nay-sayers will also state that they don't hardly ever change their air filters out. What they don't see, and will not see, is that paper air filters, when dirty, really damage your gas milage. Paper air filters do not trap the smaller elements that you want captured and kept out of your engine. The idea is to have clean air freely flowing into your engine. K&N has proven that they do have better airflow than OEM paper filters, and that with the proper oil treatment can stop and hold foreign objects as small as pollen.

Nay-say all you wish, it's all just your opinion, and you know what they say about opinions!!!

I just put one in my 2004. I have to say that my HP has increased, I used to almost chug chug up the grade I travel when going to LA. I just went to LA the other day and I flew up the grade. I'm very happy, and I haven't even done the airbox mod yet Just my two cents and experience.

I installed this kit:
63-1551 - K&N 63 Series Aircharger Kits, Performance Intake Kit

I have only been running it for a few weeks now, but gas milage has improved a lot. Can't really feel the improved power though.... but what is 10 hp on 200+?
