Ok I've been reading 4 hours....
My '01 cooling fan is not coming on. 40a fuse is good, small relay swapped has no effect. How do I determine failure of: Large relay Fan Motor (and how do you get that damm plug undone) ECM Thanks very much! Pffester Pffester02@comcast.net |

I just went through this whole procedure but here goes... If your talking about the "plug" or wiring harness connection for the fan, the red tab on the top of the connection slides to one side and lets the connection come apart. Then take both a negative wire and a hot wire and touch the negative wire to the black prong off the connection and the hot wire to either the yellow or red prong. (the prongs aren't actually colored but you can see the wires that go to each prong and they are color coded. Only one speed (I forget which) of the fan will come on when you touch the yellow or red prong but if one speed does come on, at least you know your fan motor isn't burnt out like a few of us had happen. In case your talking about some other "plug", the one (wiring harness connection) I'm talking about is accessed from the bottom of the car where you can see it in this picture with the red slide on the top.
