I have 47K miles on my 02, and i'm about to take along road trip. I want to change out the plugs and wires. I thought about installing the Champion Platinums(3570) myself, but I see it's a pain the rear. I called the dealership, and they said the platinums are not recommended. Does anyone have good recommendations on plugs (and wire sets for that matter)????

Go back and kick your dealer in the rear.
Platinums are great. The Champion Double Platinum's new number is #7570. Gap them at .40in and use Anti-seize on the threads. Wires, Use Crane's fire Wires from Race & Street. Use Dilectric grease on the ends. Here's the link to changing the spark plugs and wires. There's one part that talks about the EGR pipe in the back of the upper manifold. I don't think your 02 has it, but in case you do, the instructions are included. Album: CHANGING SPARK PLUGS ON A PT CRUISER - SIMPLIFIED

Thanks!! Are the Crane wires readily available in a store, or do I need to look around for a performance shop for them?

Not sure. I get 99% of my stuff on-line. www.RaceandStreet.com has good prices and fast shipping (look under "Performance"). Maggie (from Race & Street) is a great person to deal with and attends some of the bigger PT Cruiser events. If you don't want to go on-line, they should carry PT wires at all your local auto stores. Almost anything is better than the stock Chrysler stuff.

I put the Champion plugs in mine at 70,000 miles. Dealer installed them for me.
