I have a 2001 Limited and the rear wiper has stopped working I took off the interior panel and if I tap the motor with a hammer it will move a little but the motor gets hot, can they be taken apart and cleaned or do I have to get a new wiper motor? I had a Ford Windstar that I was able to repair the srivers electric window motor by taking the motor out and blowing out the gears and greasing it.
anyone know what special trick to disconnect the elecrtical connector to the wiper motor? I do not want to force it and break the tabs

You'll be better off replacing the motor. You may get it to work for a while but it will stop working.

I took my wiper motor out of my 2001 and replaced the wiper with a handle. I don't seem to remember any trick to getting the electrical connection off. I took a look at the motor and the electrical clip is a normal one used all over the car. You'll have to push down on the retainer part and pull the clip apart.

hmmm, so did you replace with the handle because of looks or did you have a problem with the motor too?

Because of looks. No more icy weather here in Florida, just rain. I found once I took the rear headrests out, I had the whole back window to see out of and the rain doesn't hamper my view. Besides, I think it looked good with the handle.
