DJ,
I was hoping someone would have an answer for you. I really don't. I looked under the dash with a flashlight and small screwdriver. I saw the black rectangle with the blue/green lens. I tried prying it off but it didn't want to move and I didn't want to break it. It may be that you have to get to the bulb from the inside by taking out the center console but I can't say for sure. What I do think is that there probably already is a bright white LED light there and it's just covered by the black housing with the colored lens. Taking the housing off would probably give you all the extra light you need unless the housing and bulb are all in one piece then you'd have to find a way of securing the light in place without the housing.

I know the light you are talking about and I have changed mine. I have hidden red neon lights up under the dash in the footwell areas and under the front seats. The little green light was bothering me so I popped the lens off and replaced it with a little red one I made out of a soft clear plastic. It can be done!!!!
