inflating tires @ 38 rear/40 front?
is that with the stock tires? I had more than 35psi in mine once and it drove horrible. |

I keep ours at 42 rear / 40 front... seem to get decent mileage with this setup.

Hooligan,
Check the Max Inflation rating on the sidewall. If your tires are rated at only 35 then you shouldn't exceed that but if they're listed at 44 like mine and most of the the new low profile, "high" performance tires are then 38 or 40 is not over-inflating them. My Caddy has the same type of rating and I found 42 in the front and 40 in the rear to be the best for ride, handling and milage. ![]()

The comment was just a caution. Wouldn't want someone to over inflate and have premature wear.

Im not worried about over inflating the tires, as I haven't. 42 is fine. I do keep an eye on them all the time and they are wearing evenly.
I know the "limit" is higher than 44... but off hand, I can't remember the actual number. it's something I have actually been fine tuning for a bit.. some times it can be surprising what 2-4 lbs of pressure can do!

On a brighter note, due to my possible rack and pinion dilema, after all the $ I spent on preventitive maintainance and adding the cold air intake, my gas mileage increased to 25 additional miles for the entire tank.
Not too shabby. |

25 miles per tank is great!!
after doing some mods, i too hope to get a few more miles outta each tank.. thankfully small things can add up! what MPG are you getting overall?
