Clean the throttle body, then reset the computer.

Ok thanks,,,, Ive had the throttle body serviced regularly.... i'm leaning to water in gas or bad gas as previous poster mentioned since it hasnt done it again,,, the service dept writer suggested a product called GG208-44k in which you add to a full tank of fuel & run it to 1/4 tank, The dealer sells it,,its expensive $17.50 anyway I am giving it a try,,they recommend it because other products contain alchohol which this product doesnt ,,,(alchohol is bad for our fuel systems)I'll keep you all posted..... thanks for all the help!!

My 2003 GT with 47,000 miles on it started having problems similar to yours, except that it didn't only happen on cold starts. It happened a couple of times for now explicable reason at stop lights, too. It was, as you describe, intermittent and no codes were generated. So when the engine light finally did come on, I got it to the shop as soon as I could -- which was after it had already cycled through and corrected itself. Fortunately, they did read a code.

First they replaced a throttle control mechanism. That seemed to help for a while, but then the problem came back again. This time, they looked further and said there may be a short in the wiring. After checking it out for a bit and consulting whoever they consult, they decided rather than taking everything apart, they'd try replacing the PCM first. So far, it's working fine, but I'm keeping a close eye on things.

With mine, the idle wasn't functioning correctly. In addition, there were some occasions where the dashboard lights would pulse -- not really a flicker, but a very subtle change in levels -- subtle enough that you wondered if your eyes were playing tricks on you. In addition, it would hesitate sometimes while driving, like the clutch was engaging a little bit or fuel wasn't getting to the engine. It really felt more like a slipped clutch than anything else, though.

Anyway, since the PCM was replaced last week, I haven't had any further problems (fingers crossed). Best thing was that it didn't cost me anything. He said something about government requiring them to replace this kind of thing. Beats me. I do have an extended warranty (third party, but purchased through the dealership), though, and they were consulted during the process, too.

I believe emissions must be controlled by manufacturer for 50,000 miles.
