Default Headers for '04 2.4L 4cyl. engine.

I have a 04 PT Cruiser with a Weapons-R intake and a turbo muffler installed would headers at this time would make a difference in hp and mpg.
Thank you.

I cut and pasted from another forum:
"So the answer is yes, the Heddman header did improve power. I’ve never had wheelspin problems with an NA automatic on a racetrack using sticky tires and traction compound. The only time I’ve done burnouts before was for show, this time it became necessary.

The difference is more pronounced on the street because the extra torque is right where you are usually driving. It feels like an instant displacement bump, and the throttle response is sweet.

If you want to read more info about this header type, there’s some good info here from a pro header builder.

Header - Exhaust Manifold - Tech - Jack Burns - Popular Hot Rodding "

Note - that's for the Heddman 4-2-1 header.
The poster goes to a drag strip, and after the header, easily beat his prior best time.

Thank you for the information and the educational article on header design. There is nothing learning something new.

On the other hand I had a JBA header on my '01 and noticed no difference at all. Keep your receipt for the Hedman header as when the PT first came out it had warpage and micro fracture problems. Hopefully they've solved those problems. Even my JBA header developed micro fractures.
