ECU ECM PCM - P/N - Security Key locked?

Here is my problem 2003 PT Cruiser Non Turbo Auto with security key system. The Engine light is on, and car will die when trying to idle, and it is the dreaded IAC circuit code (P0508). However the wiring and motor are fine so the Chrysler books say replace the computer. The issue I have is Chrysler tells me I either need a new blank ECU, or find one from a car without the security key system, as any with the secure key system are locked to the vehicle and will not work in any other car. Is this true? I have found a couple of used but they either had the security key or may have, also the dealer part book says my P/N ends in 071 and most of these end in 069 is that an issue also, I will have to pull mine to verify for sure. Any help or insight appreciated.
Very confused on this pain interlock system - and yet I bet cars still get stolen!!

Your best bet is to get the PCM from the dealer. It's not the cheapest way but it's the best.... The problem is that even if you find one w/o skim then as soon as you plug it in it's going to see that the skim is there and then you are SOL. Right back to square one.... And even if that doesnt happen you will still have a check engine light due to the VIN mismatch.... Do your self a favor and just take it to the dealer.

I am coming to the conclusion that not only is a new computer the better way to go or the best way, it is really the only way. I was told that the VIN mismatch wouldn't set the engine light, but any keyed computere dwouldn't work and and non would be OK once the key code was set with coimputer. As taht is teh way the dealer computer will most likely come is as a non keyed fully programmed unit then it is just installed and the key set.
