A friend at work told me that if I add an intake, I will get more power for a day or so, until the computer "re-learns." He said I would have to flash/reset the computer to take full advantage of the intake.....does this sound right to anyone? does anyone have any dyno numbers for an aftermarket intake? Any help is appreciated.

Spy,
Not a dyno test, but here's a couple articles to read: AIR RAID System: http://www.ptcruiserworld.com/tenart...?sid=8&aid=100 VOLANT Air System: http://www.ptcruiserworld.com/tenart...p?sid=8&aid=77 JBA Headers http://www.ptcruiserworld.com/tenart...p?sid=8&aid=71

The computer is working towards the most effective AF ratio based on the input it gets from the sensors. Making the car breath easier will cause the computer to add a little more fuel due to the greater intake air mass that is measured by the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor in our Speed Density FI systems (if I remember correctly). The computer bases it's decisions on this, and the O2 and temp sensors (maybe some others). As long as the greater air supply is there it should make the same decisions to reach the correct AF ratio. Combustion requires air, fuel and ignition. Add more air and the computer should do the rest (within the parameters of it's programmed capabilities).

Whenevr i used to race my Dakota R/T, we would always disconnect the battery for a few minutes before we ran.The truck would allow itself to run a little richer and more aggressively while it was in the 'Learn Mode'.

So, is it as simple as installing the intake, disconnecting the battery to put it in learn mode, and that's it?
