P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction

Is this something i can replace or fix myself? Just what the heck is this? Could really use some help on this. My cruiser is my only transportation.

P0700 is a pcm trouble code that basicly says there is more trouble codes in the trans controler side of the pcm.
in order to find out what those codes are you will need a scan tool and then once you have the codes further diagnois can be done.
depending on what codes come out of the trans controler it could mean something simple like a bad speed sensor or some kinda bad like a loss of prime. gear ratio error codes can be caused by faulty sensors.


Best advice take it to either a dealer you trust or a tranny shop you can trust. if your not comfortable driving it get it towed.

whats the oil condition? does it smell burnt and is it dark in color? and is the level correct

My GT just had that PO700 code and is now being rebuilt by the dealer. Mine locked in 2nd gear, then when I slowed down the engine died. Every time I got it started and put it in gear the engine died. If you are just showing the code, but nothing drastic happened it may not be serious.

The number 1 warranty issue on the 41TE are solenoids.

trans wont shift out of 1st gear. Had codes p1490,p1495,p0700 . I had disconnected the battery about 10 times, then drove the car and would not shift out of 1st gear, then the above codes displayed.

...and your question is? If you read the posts above yours, there's not much you can do so get to a dealer or transmission shop to see what the problem is.

I was told the car is in 2nd gear, not 1st. 2nd gear is the Chrysler "limp home" gear.

Bob with same problem, get it to a dealer or transmission shop to diagnose the problem. There's nothing you can do without knowing what the exact problem is.

Same problem here.
Changed PCM and now the code says is a abs sensor.
Will change that on monday, althought i think is the TCM.
Car stuck in limp-in mode.
ABS and Track.control lights on.
Stuck in 3rd.
Real pain to fix.

I had that code a while ago. I was going to take it to the dealer but when to Advance Auto Parts and they a scan tool that read the codes. It was a speed sensor. I ended up changing both sensors and the code disappear.
