Default Can't figure it out! Engine "miss" in all gears

My PT is a 2002 LE, black w/purple flames, still new - only 3500 miles (only 183 when I bought it). I've only done 2 things with him - installed a K&N air filter, and changed to synthetic oil at 2200 miles. At first I was hoping the stutter, or miss, would go away. You know, dirty gas or something. Notta. Oh yea - it's a 5 speed. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in, the miss is there. Worse with a/c on. I put the oem filter back in but it still misses. Took it to the dealer, and all they said was it didn't show on the computer. Can anybody help? Thanks so much!

Garlin,

Did the stutter start right after the installation of the K&N? Did you put in in yourself? Maybe a connection was left off. There's two connections that go into the filter...one is a sensor that measures the air density and has a very small delicate tip, check to see if that has broken off. The other connection is a feed back black plastic tube that runs from the right side of the engine to the filter. Make sure it's connected well into the K&N tube. Just something to check...good luck.

What rpm are you noticing this @ ? It's it the same rpm in all gears ? Could possibly be plugs/wires/coils ... if it gets bad enough you should see the engine symbol light then you'd have a code to pull/look @ .
