Unhappy Blown up engine

I have a '01 pt cruiser, manual 5 speed, 170000 miles and the engine blew up yesterday. It doesen't want to start and when you do get it started it has no compression and it blows white smoke out the pipe. Does anyone know where I can find prices on replacement engines? I know I am going to have to replace it and it is probably better that I do but I need to figure out how much it is going to cost me. Please help.

You want new or used? Long or short block? If your worried about money, take it to a reputable engine shop to rebuild what you have. A salvage yard for a whole used engine.

Well, I think I could do with a short block. I am going to check first to make sure its not just a warped head but rebuilding the engine is probably not a good idea. I have trouble trusting salvage yards as I used to be in the salvage yard business myself and know what kind of people are out there.
