Default P0304 question

I keep getting intermittent P0304 codes and was wondering if the 2 coils could be switched therby if the #4 coil was bad it would now show a P0302 or P0303 code. Then I would know for sure without having to speed money needlessly other than for a set of plugs.

thanks guys

there is only 1 ignition coil, but it has 2 sides. if you are reading a bad side, then the whole thing needs replacement. replace the plugs and wires while you are at it.

I dont have a testing procedure handy, but the coil fires two cylinders at the same time. coil 1 fires cyls 1 and 4, coil 2 fires cyls 2 and 3. if you are having a missfire on only one cyl, check your plugs/wires first.

And the stock ignition wires are crap. On both my PTs, they started to die at about 20,000 miles.
