Chris,
Just did my check to help you out. Mine went from lying dormant to the very first white mark, then to red, then to half way, then to full, then to overfull. Never touched 3/4.

I am having the same problem. It will only fill to 3/4 tank by the gauge reading. I just filled the car up on my way to work and it is only 2-3 miles to work. The light was on and I was only able to get 9.6 gallons in the car.
I will try the gauge test to see if that works. If the gauge sweeps correctly, I guess I will try putting more fuel in the car to see if that works. If not, anyone know where the ground is for the gauge? I am wondering if the ground is corroded and it can't get a good reference. |

Okay...I have an update. I did the gauge test and the gauge can do a full sweep up past F. The car was reading between 1/2 and 3/4 when I started it up.
Here is the new twist. If I cycle the ignition between On and Off a couple of times the gauge went up to between 3/4 and F. If I cycle it between On and Off a few more times it will drop to between 1/2 and 3/4 again. I can reproduce it at will for the most part. |

Most likely your problem is the fuel pump sending unit.. which is located on the fuel pump..If the float gets stuck, or moves erratic, the gauge will do the same....

$300.00 isn't too bad. I thought I read the part was $300, but I guess I misread it.
