I will be putting crane wires, platimum plugs and airraid filter system this weekend on our 07. We took it out for a long highway drive this weekend and let the gauge in the dash tell us the mpg we were getting. In the city was 15-17 and it went up to a wopping 20.7 mpg!

We did use the air conditioning both ways but what crap.

We still love the car tho. It's just different looking without being ugly or weird looking like all the small newer CAR-TRUCK-WAGON morphed looking cars.

Wish I still had my 70 javelin.

Same mpg story here.

I just put the Airaid filter system in last weekend on my '08. I find acceleration much better from a dead stop to 20mph which is city driving around here. That alone was worth the price, but it does get loud when you go lead foot.

Got the crane wires in the mail, going to put those in this weekend. If I see a mpg improvement I will report back. Not sure I will replace the actual plugs or not.

Gas mileage is total crap, Chrysler really dropped the ball on this. Otherwise I love the car, I am hoping when I hit 5k on the odometer mileage will improve.

Saw this on a news website, CNN I think it was, today. Some good tips.

I'm putting 55 psi in my nokians tomorrow.

Forget about using the dash guage telling you your mileage. It doesn't work close enough. Best way is figuring miles divided by gallons.

It will improve, just needs some breaking in.

55 psi in your tires will give you better gas mileage. However, someone told me that this is quite dangerous.

They're rated for 51psi. 55 should be no issue.

I've been running 47 psi in nokians on my Echo (rated for 44 psi) for 6 years now, with no problems, handling, braking, or in snow/ice.

The ride is a bit harsher, to be sure.

Oh, and now that I think about it, there's 65 psi (rated for 65 psi) in the tires on my '73 landcruiser, and I haven't had problems with them for 15 years either.

It doesn't seem to me that people need to be scared of inflating their tires to the max rated pressure stated on their sidewall.

Well, I've always inflated mine to the max, and I haven't had problems either, but others are adamant that this might be dangerous....I don't know.

I HAVE A 2008 CRUISER (BASE ENGINE) WITH AN AUTOMATIC. THE BEST MILEAGE I CAN COAX OUT OF IT IS ABOUT 18 CITY AND 24 HIGHWAY. GIVEN $4.00+ CALIFORNIA GAS PRICES, I'M INTERESTED IN WHAT I CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE MPG. MAYBE I'M JUST DREAMING, BUT 15-20% WOULD BE NICE. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
